_This 100,000 Dollar Gold Certificate is the highest U. S. denomination.
Only 42,000 were printed.
They were used only for transactions between the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department.
These notes were never issued for public circulation.
When the Government stopped using them in the early 1960s, most were destroyed.
Only three are known to have survived.
One is housed at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco,
one at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing,
and one at the Smithsonian Institute.

Front: Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), 28th President of the United States 1913-1921
Wilson graduated from the College of New Jersey (Princeton University) and the University of Virginia Law School.
He earned his doctorate at Johns Hopkins University and became a professor of political science and later president of Princeton in 1902. Wilson ran for President in 1912. He won by an overwhelming electoral vote but only 42 percent of the popular vote.

          false money paper

_Our neighbor showed us a billet, worth 100,000 dollar in gold.
The owner liked to know (from jail) if we were interested to pay for this certificates, but a quick investigation on the Internet learned me that it is true false.

Dear Sandy,
_Thanks for sending pictures of the note.
It sure is very authentic looking, but a fake note nevertheless.
It is obvious the two notes are not from the same printing plate.
The front and back colors and the color of the seals are different;
The fonts used are not the same,
"series 1934" and "Washington D. C." locations are slightly shifted between the 2 notes.

You can find the original scans on the internet, I have one on my website.

_They always claimed someone found boxes of them in a cave or around an airplane crash site.
Do you really believe it?
When was the last time you found a $100 bill, never mind boxes of $100,000 bills.
Someone else send me awhile-back scans of bundles of the note in consecutive serial nos. and authentic certificates, all fakes of course.
I do think someone in the Philippines was printing them.
You asked why? Obviously, they hope to pass them as real to unsuspecting people in exchange for real money.
It is illegal to sell or own counterfeit notes.
That is why the Philippine person was arrested, charged with passing counterfeit money.

_It's illegal for a private person to own one of these notes, and none has ever been in private hands.
All 42,000 were accounted for.
However, I have come across several poor quality counterfeits.
They seem to be originated from Asia.
So if you happen to have one in your position, I can assure you that it's a fake.
I think some people are trying to pass fakes off as genuine notes to people looking for bargain.
There are many copies of $100,000 gold certificates on sale at eBay for around $3.
It is legal if the notes are smaller than 75% or greater than 150% of actual size and if the notes are clearly stamped "Copy".
People buy them as novelty items.
Serious collectors do not collection reproduction, replicas or copies.

Tom Chao
